Work will be done in less time:
The Institute’s Executive Director had earlier said that it will be our endeavor to send medicines to the needy by road in the remote areas of Uttarakhand and from there it takes a lot of time to bring the necessary samples to AIIMS Rishikesh. Drone service can become a better option for those places. He also worked on this option, as a result of which the trial of drone service here was successful. On Wednesday, a test was conducted to send medicines by drone at the helipad of AIIMS Rishikesh. The drone was trialled with a medicine box in an area around 20 kms from Rishikesh, the test was successful.
What the Executive Director says:
Executive Director Prof. Meenu Singh told that our effort is to deliver essential medicines to the needy in all the remote areas of Uttarakhand. Especially in Uttarakhand, we have made efforts in the direction of tuberculosis control. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated the resolve of a TB-free India. We have tried to make this resolution a reality in Uttarakhand. He told that after completing all the homework under the campaign to send medicines by drone, it was trialled on Wednesday, which was successful. Right now we have selected Tehri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand for this service.
Medicine will reach in one hour’s journey:
Today, a drone will fly from the helipad of AIIMS Rishikesh carrying TB medicine to Tehri Garhwal. This journey will take about an hour, the team of doctors and staff at the Community Health Center Tehri will receive these medicines sent by drone. From there, samples of patients will be transported to AIIMS Rishikesh for examination via drone. He told that if this long-distance effort of ours is successful, then the work of sending medicines through drones will be started in the remote areas located in other districts of Uttarakhand. In the first phase, we have decided to start four drone services for this work.
