New AYUSH Policy 2023 approved, target to take AYUSH to the masses within 5 years

A target has been set to take AYUSH services to every person in the state for the next five years. For this, five pillars of the AYUSH ecosystem have been identified in the state’s AYUSH policy. These include cultivation of medicinal plants, AYUSH manufacturing (medicines and consumer products), health services, wellness and education and research. The objective has been to increase investment and private sector participation in these areas. The cabinet has approved this policy.
The state government is continuously taking steps towards promotion of AYUSH. The reason is that Ayush has been an important part of the culture and tradition here. There are immense possibilities of working in the field of health services, wellness, education and research in AYUSH. There is abundance of medicinal plants and medicines here.
There is a need for publicity regarding these. In this context, the AYUSH department has made the AYUSH policy. It was placed in the cabinet meeting on Friday. In order to promote AYUSH manufacturing, health services, wellness, education and research, it has been said to increase investment and private sector participation in these.
It is mentioned in the policy that in order to improve the products and services related to AYUSH, adherence to national and international standards will be ensured in the AYUSH ecosystem. Technology and innovation will also be encouraged to increase efficiency, productivity and awareness in the production process.
Emphasis has also been laid in the policy for mutual cooperation for the development of AYUSH and taking it to the masses. It also provides that the state government will provide incentives besides setting targets to promote AYUSH ecology. For this, arrangements have been made to give incentives ranging from 2.5 lakh to 15 lakh to AYUSH hospitals.

Research center will be built in Charekhadanda
In the policy, a provision has also been made to develop Acharya Charakh’s birthplace Charekdanda at Dugadda in Pauri Garhwal as an AYUSH-based research center.
