By the year 2025, every gram panchayat of Uttarakhand will get its own building, the picture of villages will change.

admin October 14, 2023

By the year 2025, all gram panchayats in Uttarakhand will have their own panchayat buildings. Efforts have been intensified for this. At present, construction work is going on in 450 Gram Panchayats, while the demand for construction of buildings in the remaining 800 Gram Panchayats will be made in the new financial year. The exercise of preparing a proposal in this regard has already been started.

Number of Panchayats 7795
At present the number of gram panchayats in the state is 7795. Of these, 1250 do not have their own buildings to conduct the functions of the Panchayat. Somehow they are carrying on this work. In such a situation, there is difficulty in maintaining records and other tasks. Keeping all this in view, the government is trying to ensure that all gram panchayats have their own panchayat buildings. Efforts for this have also been intensified. According to Manoj Tiwari, Deputy Director of Panchayati Raj Department, construction work is going on in 450 gram panchayats without Panchayat buildings. He said that 250 of these are being constructed from the state sector, while 200 panchayat buildings have been received by the state from the Center under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan. All these works will be completed in the current financial year. He informed that a demand will be made in the state sector and National Gram Swaraj Abhiyan in the new financial year for the Gram Panchayats without remaining Panchayat buildings. A proposal is being prepared in this regard. He expressed hope that with their approval in the new financial year, all the Panchayats will have their own buildings by the year 2025.

670 Panchayat buildings are being developed as mini secretariat.
The government has taken steps towards developing the Panchayat buildings of Gram Panchayats as mini secretariats. In the first phase, each Gram Panchayat building in 670 Nyaya Panchayats is being developed as a mini secretariat. Through these, services of various departments will be available to the villagers. Gradually this campaign will be taken forward.
