After the implementation of the Election Code of Conduct, monitoring and enforcement campaign is in full swing in all the districts as per the instructions of Chief Electoral Officer Dr. BVRC Purushottam in the state. In this series, the enforcement teams of the Commission have seized illegal liquor and drugs worth more than Rs 60 lakh in three days. Manmohan Mainali, State Nodal Officer for Election Expenditure Monitoring, said that from March 1 to March 18, illicit liquor, drugs, unauthorized cash and other materials worth more than Rs 7.68 crore have been seized.
The biggest action so far has been taken in Haridwar on March 11, where drugs worth Rs 3.34 crore were seized. He said that this year the Election Commission of India has implemented the Election Seizure Management System for the enforcement agencies engaged in the election process. More than 20 agencies including Excise, Police, Income Tax Department are involved in this. Enforcement action and seizure reports are being filed every day till 12 midnight. The enforcement agencies of all the districts are recording their actions in this software. It is being directly monitored by the Election Commission of India and the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer.
Joint Chief Electoral Officer Namami Bansal said that posters and banners have been removed from 94 thousand buildings in the state. About 3066 cases of Model Code of Conduct have been resolved through C-Vigil app. In which 2800 cases have been found correct and have been disposed of within the stipulated time limit. Besides, 10900 weapons have also been deposited. This action is continuing continuously.
