The animal husbandry department has become alert in view of bird flu.

The department has demanded a budget of ten lakh rupees for the PPE kit. Animal Husbandry Minister Rekha Arya has instructed the department to be vigilant, on the other hand, has also appealed to the people not to panic, the situation is under control in Uttarakhand.

In the review meeting held in the Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday, Rekha Arya, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Women Welfare and Child Development, Animal Husbandry, Sheep and Goat Farming, Fodder and Pasture Development and Fisheries Development took a review meeting. It was informed in the meeting that the bird flu situation in the state is under control. There is no need to be afraid, nervous, but to be alert and aware of bird flu.

Minister Rekha Arya said that bird flu has not been detected in the poultry sector in Uttarakhand. A state-level and district-level committee was formed today to control bird flu infection. The State Level Committee will be headed by Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture Production Commissioner, Government of Uttarakhand and District Level Committee will be headed by District Magistrate.

It was informed in the meeting that the Animal Husbandry Department is continuously sampling birds. The poultry sector has been kept under watch and high alert has been issued. On giving any notice of any type of disease or infection in any type of chickens, etc., he was given strict instructions to send it to the lab immediately as well as to keep distance from other chickens. If there is any natural death in Garhwal and Kumaon division, then it is sent to Bareilly after sampling it.

The report of which is awaited. Bird flu has just been found in wild birds. The minister instructed that a seminar be held on January 14 with the poultry sector farmers and scientists and subject matter experts. Women Welfare and Child Development, Additional Director KK Joshi, CVO MS Nayal, Prem Kumar Deputy Secretary Animal Husbandry BS Pundir etc. were at the meeting.
