The BJP currently holds two of the three Rajya Sabha seats from Uttarakhand. The third seat falling vacant is being represented by Pradeep Tamta of Congress. In the meeting of the Central Parliamentary Board of the BJP in Delhi, the name of Dr. Kalpana Saini was approved for the candidate.
Dr. Saini, originally a resident of village Shivdaspur-Teliwala (Roorkee) of Haridwar district, is one of the big faces of BJP in Haridwar district. He inherited politics. His father Prithvi Singh has been an irrigation minister in developed Uttar Pradesh. She was the principal of Gandhi Mahila Shilp Inter College Roorkee for a long time. He also worked on other posts including Haridwar BJP District President.

Roorkee. The Bharatiya Janata Party has declared Dr. Kalpana Saini, educationist and chairman of the State Backward Classes Commission, as the candidate of the Rajya Sabha member. Dr. Kalpana Saini has been associated with the organization for a long time. His father himself Dr. Prithvi Singh Vikas won the elections from Roorkee assembly seat for the first time in 1991 on BJP ticket and has been Minister of State for Irrigation in Uttar Pradesh.
Dr. Kalpana Saini, who lives in the housing development of Roorkee, was the district president of Haridwar district of BJP. Apart from this, she started teaching work from Shree Gandhi Mahila Shilp Inter College, Roorkee. He holds a PhD in Sanskrit. Later she was also the principal of this school. Dr. Kalpana’s husband Dr. Nathiram Saini is an Ayurveda doctor, he is also active in social service. He had two children a son and a daughter. This is the first time for the city of Roorkee that a local person is going to the Rajya Sabha for the first time.

Dr. Kalpana Saini continued to claim ticket from Roorkee and Kaliyar assembly seats. He always spoke on the party forum and he always emphasized on party discipline. Dr. Kalpana Saini has inherited politics from her father, Dr. Prithvi Singh has been a big face of Vikas Sangh, apart from this, in the year 1991, he contested and won elections on the ticket of Bharatiya Janata Party and was made Minister of State for Irrigation in the Government of Uttar Pradesh. After this, he won again in the 1993 assembly elections, although after the formation of Uttarakhand, he contested twice from Bahadarabad seat on a BJP ticket but had to face defeat.
