306 HIV infected in Uttarakhand, in seven months: World AIDS Day 2020

Anti-retro therapy (ART) medication does not relieve HIV AIDS, but regular drug intake increases the lifespan of an HIV-infected patient. Within seven months, 306 HIV-infected people have been found in the state. From 2006 to October 2020, the number of HIV AIDS patients in the state has reached more than five thousand. Five more ART centers will start in the state from Tuesday for the convenience of HIV patients.

Based on the data of the last five years of the State AIDS Control Committee, due to increasing HIV screening in the state, infected patients are increasing. 2.8 lakh HIV screenings were done in the year 2017-18. 967 HIV positive were found in it. Similarly, in 2018-19, 2.75 lakhs were screened in 2.83 lakh screenings, in 2019-20, 3.40 lakhs were found to be 1040 HIV positive. In the current financial year, 306 HIV-infected patients have been found in 1.29 lakh tests in seven months from April to October.
There are 146 HIV testing centers in the state. While free testing facility is available, ART center is operated in Doon Medical College, Haldwani Medical College and District Hospital Pithoragarh. Where medicines and counseling are done to HIV patients. 4314 ART medicine taking HIV infected:
The number of HIV patients in the state is more than five thousand, but only 4314 are taking ART medicines in it. The drug is easily available to the infected. For this, 16 link ART centers are operated in the state.

Regularly eating ART medicine increases the life of an HIV infected patient, but this medicine does not relieve the disease. This time the World Health Organization has laid the theme of universal unity and shared responsibility for AIDS Day. Do not discriminate against the HIV patient. This is the responsibility of all of us. There are more than five thousand HIV infected in the state.
