The mountainous districts of Garhwal and Kumaon, including Kedarnath and Badaridham, received snowfall, intensifying the cold wave. According to the Meteorological Department, there are chances of rain, snowfall, hail and lightning on Monday and Tuesday.
According to the State Meteorological Center, there is a possibility of snowfall and moderate rainfall in areas with height of 2500 meters or more in the state. Whereas, the weather may be worse at some places in the Garhwal region. Hail or lightning may fall in it. Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Center, said that the weather will be cool for two-three days. The weather will be worse in the Garhwal region on Monday.
Up to five feet of snow in areas bordering China:
In Kumaon, up to five feet of snow has fallen in Jollycong, Kuti, Kalapani and Lipulekh, bordering China. Snowfall in the high-altitude areas of Pithoragarh and Bageshwar district has increased the cold all over Kumaon. Almora recorded a minimum temperature of minus one, Nainital one, Bageshwar zero and Kapkot the minimum temperature below zero. It is a matter of relief that this rain has extinguished the blazing fire in the forests of Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Almora districts.
Snow warning in five districts on Tuesday:
At the same time, according to the State Meteorological Center, western disturbances are becoming active in Uttarakhand. Its effect is also visible. There will be rain in the plains and low altitude areas and hail may also fall.
On Tuesday, snowfall has been issued in five districts Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh, Champawat, Bageshwar. Along with this, cold will also increase in the plains. In such a situation, special care should be taken of the elderly and children.
Even on Saturday, there was no sunlight throughout the day in the plains. A decrease in temperature was recorded due to cloud cover. At the same time, snowfall was received in areas including Hemkund Sahib, Rudranath, Lal Mati, Valley of Flowers as well as high altitude, including Badri-Kedar.
Kedarnath, second Kedar Madmaheshwar and third Kedar Tungnath also received light snowfall. The upper regions of Triyuginarayan, Toshi, Goundar and Chirbatiya also experienced snowfall, but could not freeze.
