Kalpana Saini to file nomination as BJP candidate of Uttarakhand today

BJP candidate Dr. Kalpana Saini will file nomination papers on Tuesday for the election of a Rajya Sabha seat going to be vacant from Uttarakhand. The victory of Kalpana Saini is considered certain as the BJP has a two-thirds majority in the assembly.

Tuesday is the last day for filing nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections. On the same day, BJP declared the Chairman of the State Backward Classes Commission, Dr. Kalpana Saini, as the candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections. Dr. Saini will file nomination papers on Tuesday at 2 pm.

These will be present along with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami:
According to BJP’s state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan, before this BJP candidate Dr. Saini will reach the state BJP office at 12 noon. From here she will go to the assembly for nomination. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, BJP’s national general secretary and state in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam, state president Madan Kaushik, state co-in-charge Rekha Verma, state general secretary organization Ajay Kumar and other senior leaders of the party will also be present.
Congress will not field candidate

Congress will not field a candidate in the election to be held on June 10 for the vacant one seat of Rajya Sabha member. With less numbers in the assembly, the party has indicated to withdraw from the symbolic fight.

The ruling party BJP is preparing for the election of Rajya Sabha seat. The party has a two-thirds majority in the assembly. At the same time, the number of Congress MLAs is only 19. Due to insufficient numbers, the Congress is not in favor of fielding a candidate in the elections to be held for a seat in the Rajya Sabha.
State Congress General Secretary Organization Mathuradutt Joshi said that the party does not have the numbers to contest the Rajya Sabha seat. The party has no intention of fielding a candidate so far.
