Tonight is the longest night of the year.

The moment that astronomers, including scientists, have been waiting for a long time, the clock has finally arrived, but this time it is going to be a rare event after a gap of 397 years. Two planets in the sky, Saturn and Jupiter, will be seen very close and the special thing is that they can be seen even without the help of telescope. Scientists have named the planets of these planets during Christmas as Christmas stars. After this, both these planets will come so close on 15 March 2080.

December 21 is the longest night of the year. This night, this rare sight will be seen. This incident will be seen very clearly due to shortening of the day and early darkness. Although Jupiter and Saturn come closer every 20 years, but not as close as they will come this time. This time the distance between these planets will be just 0.1 degree. This happened 397 years ago in 1623, when these planets came so close, but due to erstwhile celestial situation, this event could not become so much visible. These two planets came so close in 1226, 794 years later, this time these planets will be so close and also visible.

Jupiter revolves around the sun in 11.86 years. It takes about 29.5 years for Saturn to revolve around the Sun. Each time in 19.6 years, these two planets come closer, which can be easily seen in the sky. This phenomenon is called consumption, but this time the virtual distance between them will be very small due to the angle between them. However, the actual distance between them would be 73 crore km.

The angular distance between the two planets started decreasing from last month and now they seem to be very close for about a month. During this time they will be able to see with naked eyes, but with the help of a normal telescope or telescope, four moons of Jupiter can also be seen orbiting it. Dr. Shasibhushan Pandey, scientist of Arya Bhatt Institute of Research and Observation Sciences, Aries, said that the last general congestion occurred in 2000. The next congestion will take place on 5 November 2040, while the next great concession will take place on 15 March 2080.

Miraculous, incredible events happen in nature and space. This is going to happen this time also. The planets Saturn and Jupiter are said to be ‘closest’ after 397 years, in fact, they will be about 73 million km far more than their average distance between 64 million kilometers this day. Despite this, they will look so close because they will be behind each other and being in a straight line when viewed from the earth, the angle of distance between them will be less, which will make them seem closer.
