Nirmala Gahatodi accused BJP of misuse of power, sat on dharna in collectorate

Congress candidate Nirmala Gahatodi, who is contesting the by-election from Champawat, sat on a dharna in the District Magistrate’s office, accusing her of misusing power in the election and intimidating her workers. She warned that she would sit on the dharna till the District Election Officer took appropriate action.

On Tuesday, Congress candidate Nirmala Gahatodi sat on a dharna near the statue of Govind Ballabh Pant in the District Magistrate’s office premises at 4:23 pm. He made serious allegations against the BJP government. He said that the BJP is misusing the power in the by-elections. On the day of polling, their workers were intimidated. Their agents were forcibly shooed away from several booths. When a complaint was made to the District Election Officer, Sector Magistrate, no action was taken.
Candidate Nirmala said that an attempt is being made to throttle democracy. Against whom she is protesting. The entire administrative staff is ignoring the hooliganism of BJP workers. Said that BJP and RSS workers influenced the voting by going inside the booths but even after getting information, the District Election Officer did not take any action against them.

He also raised questions on the functioning of the Election Commission. Said that the commission kept watching the grandpas of BJP workers. Gehtori said that on May 30, after the election campaign was over, the Chief Minister and the candidate took out a rally in motorcycles with campaign materials. Even this was not noticed by the Election Commission. Why was no action taken against him?
These incidents have become clear what the intention of the Election Commission is. The Election Commission should investigate the whole matter seriously and cancel the by-election. He warned that the dharna would continue till the District Election Officer did not come to the spot and take positive action. Nirmala Gehtodi’s dharna was going on till the writing of the news.

Congress workers stayed away from dharna:
Congress workers, officials did not appear at the protest site in support of Congress candidate Nirmala Gahatodi. Nirmala was sitting alone at the dharna site. There were definitely one or two people with him.
