Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat, while reviewing the Disaster Management Department through video conference, directed the officials that all preparations should be completed soon in view of the upcoming monsoon season. He said that the death certificate of those missing in the disaster in the Tapovan Raini area of Chamoli should be expedited. Due to which the affected families can be paid a relief amount soon. He said that a research institute will be opened in Uttarakhand from the point of view of disaster management. Awareness should be brought to the people by conducting workshops at various places in the state. All important equipment related to disaster management should be made available by forming teams up to the level of Nyaya Panchayat. All the District Magistrates should maintain contact level up to the village level. The list of public representatives and personnel up to the village level should be kept fully updated.
Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat said that the Doppler radar made in Surkanda should be commissioned soon and the process of installation of Doppler radar in Lansdowne should be expedited. The Doppler radar made at Mukteshwar has been commissioned. There is a need to pay special attention to what else can be done in remote areas from the point of view of disaster management. Arrangements will be made for the training of masons to build earthquake-resistant houses. The Chief Minister said that in view of disaster management, a proposal will be sent to the Central Government for air ambulance soon.
Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat said that National Seminar on Disaster Management and Rehabilitation will be organized soon in Dehradun. In which there will be many subject matter experts. He said that a chapter related to disaster management is being started in all the universities of the state. A six-month certificate course on disaster management is also being started. Conferences of Mahila Mangal Dal, Youth Mangal Dal, and village guards will also be held in Garhwal and Kumaon Mandal related to disaster management. He said that an action plan is also being chalked out to give a motorbike ambulance to the accountants.
Secretary Disaster Management SA Murugation, Secretary Finance Saujanya, Additional Chief Executive Officer Disaster Management Riddhim Agarwal, Anand Shrivastava, and District Collector were present through video conference.
