The government engaged in efforts to double the income of farmers in Uttarakhand is also going to take steps towards consolidation in the coming days. In the first phase, two villages will be selected for this as a pilot project. Kuraiya and Jagannathpur villages in Udham Singh Nagar district can fit on this slot. In view of the consolidation in these villages, the work of recording the land has been completed. In such a situation, it is expected that they will be selected for consolidation.
Based on the experiences there, the government will give a comprehensive shape to the consolidation. Consolidation has been emphasized in view of the low yield due to scattered holdings in the hilly areas of the state and its poor management. At the time of Uttar Pradesh, there was an exercise regarding this. Two Consolidation Offices were also opened then, but the initiative could not take off.
Emphasis on consolidation since formation
Even after the formation of Uttarakhand, the need for consolidation was told, but in view of other problems including equal distribution of land, the governments refrained from putting their hands in it. Not only this, it was decided to encourage voluntary consolidation during the tenure of the Trivendra government. Efforts were definitely made in some villages, but this initiative could not take the shape of the campaign.
Special model of consolidation being made in the state
However, in view of consolidation, exercise is going on regarding land records etc. Especially in plain districts. In view of the completion of land recording work in two villages in Udham Singh Nagar, the Revenue Council has been informed about it. Meanwhile, the government decided to create a unique model of consolidation in the state.
Two villages will be elected
According to Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ganesh Joshi, two villages will be selected under the pilot project and consolidation will be implemented there. These villages can also be Kuraiya and Jagannathpur. Based on the experience of selected villages, farmers of other villages will be motivated for consolidation. As far as there is a question regarding equal distribution of agricultural land, such issues will be resolved by meeting among themselves.
what is consolidation
Kabandi means uniting together small parts of the field. In the hilly areas of the state, the holding is small and scattered, due to which it is not being managed. In such a situation, all the land of the residents of the village is considered as one chak and it is distributed equally. Due to this cultivation at one place, not only its management will be better, but the yield will also be good.
