The Chief Minister, Shri Tirath Singh Rawat called on the Union Finance Minister, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, in New Delhi on Monday. The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, work is going on fast on many development projects in Uttarakhand. All possible cooperation of Uttarakhand has been done by the Central Government.
The Chief Minister said that after the implementation of GST, the state of Uttarakhand has to bear the loss of revenue. In view of this, GST Compensation was approved by the Center to the State. But the period of this compensation is going to end in June 2022. The emergency situation of Covid has adversely affected the financial resources of the state. The Chief Minister requested the Union Finance Minister to extend the period of GST compensation by five more years beyond June 2022 in view of the adverse conditions and limited economic resources of Uttarakhand.
Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand Shri Om Prakash, Secretary Shri Amit Negi, Smt. Radhika Jha, Shri Shailesh Bagoli and other officers were present in the meeting.
