
The weather in the plains of Uttarakhand remains dry and the sun is shining brightly. Whereas, the weather has started changing in the mountainous areas. All the peaks including Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunatri received light snowfall late in the evening. Due to which the chill increased in the mountainous areas. At the same time, at some places in the plains the mercury has reached close to 29 degrees Celsius. According to Bikram Singh, Director of Meteorological Center, due to the activity of Western Disturbance, the weather pattern in the state may change in the next two days. Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh may receive snowfall in areas at altitude above 3200 meters. Whereas, there are chances of thundershowers and hailstorm in low lying areas.
Bright sunshine seen in the plains
On Tuesday, there was bright sunshine in Doon and surrounding areas since morning. Due to which the mercury increased rapidly in the plains and the highest maximum temperature so far this year was recorded on Tuesday. In most areas including Dehradun, the maximum mercury reached near 29 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the minimum temperature remains around normal. On the other hand, the weather has changed in the mountainous areas. Snowfall started on the peaks late in the evening. Due to which severe cold returned in the surrounding areas. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be light snowfall in the mountainous areas on Wednesday and Thursday.
