On Friday, Union Minister Harshvardhan and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat will inaugurate this radar of Mukteshwar. With this, the Dappler radar being set up in Surkanda for the Garhwal region can also start functioning in two months.
There are many micro climate zones according to the weather in the state. Climate uncertainty is also increasing due to climate change. In such a situation, three Dappler radars were planned for the state.
One is being set up in Mukteshwar, second Surkanda and third in Lansdowne area of Pauri district. The Dappler radar installed at Mukteshwar has started functioning and this is providing information to the Meteorological Center Dehradun as well as the Indian Meteorological Department.
Dappler radar can be better used for accurate forecasting of weather as well as forecasting events such as extremely strong rain.
According to the Disaster Management Department, the incidence of strong rain is increasing in the mountain. It is commonly referred to as cloudburst. Information about the formation of clouds, their composition etc. can be obtained from Dappler radar. So this radar can prove to be effective in such cases.
Features of Radar:
A Doppler radar equipped with state-of-the-art technology has been installed at the Institute of Temperate Horticulture in Mukteshwar. The specialty of this radar is that we will get information even before the events like cloud burst. Due to strong winds with rain, storm or storm, it would be easy to take precaution before getting information even before reaching here.
Doppler radar has cost over ten crore rupees to install. Which includes the cost of building etc. including state-of-the-art equipment.
