After the proposal to open Sainik Schools in Dehradun and Rudrapur in Uttarakhand, now preparations are on to open schools in hilly districts as well. In the cabinet meeting held on Friday, it has been decided that these schools will be opened based on the availability of land and building.

According to the officials of the education department, the proposal of schools meeting the standards was sought from the central government. on which these two schools are proposed. After this, now the proposal of other schools will also be sent to the central government. According to departmental officials, at least seven to eight acres of land would be required for the Sainik School.
50 percent posts of principal will be filled by direct recruitment in the state:
In the intermediate colleges of the state, 50 percent posts of principals will be promoted on the basis of seniority and the department will fill the same number of posts through direct recruitment. Amar Ujala published this news on 15 April 2022, after which the Dhami cabinet has now approved its proposal. In the Intermediate Colleges of the State, there are not a few, but 932 posts of Principals are vacant for the last several years. In the past, exemption in promotion was given by the government in order to fill some posts of the principal.
For promotion from headmaster to the post of principal, the original service in this post of at least five years was done for two and a half years. Even after this, most of the posts of Principal are vacant. It has now been decided in the cabinet meeting that if the eligible candidates are not selected for the 932 posts created under the Department of Secondary Education, 50% promotion to the post of Principal will be done on the basis of seniority. Whereas on the remaining 50 percent posts, the committee will select from among the principals and spokespersons by conducting departmental examination.
Teachers union expressed displeasure over the neglect of LT teachers
The Government Teachers’ Association has opposed the filling of 50 percent posts of Principal through departmental direct recruitment, saying that LT teachers have been neglected in this. Provincial General Secretary of Teachers’ Association Dr. Sohan Majila said that 55 percent assistant teachers for the post of headmaster, LT and 45 percent from lecturer cadre, there is a system to be filled by promotion. Whereas LT teachers have been ignored for departmental direct recruitment to the post of Principal. Many spokespersons will also be deprived of departmental direct recruitment due to the obligation of at least 10 years of service in the post of spokesperson.
