The leaders, chief ministers and ministers who held important positions during the previous governments of the Congress have also come under the purview of this strict stand of the organization. All these strong leaders are playing an important role in deciding the condition of the Congress in the state even at present. Due to this, the tussle within the party may appear to intensify in the coming time.
The matter of arbitrary appointments caught fire
A few days after the recruitment examination scam in the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission came to the fore in the state, the matter of arbitrary appointments in the Vidhan Sabha caught fire. The Congress, immediately grasping this issue, made a scathing attack on the BJP of the state. Former national president of the party, Rahul Gandhi also made a scathing remark on irregular appointments in the assembly. At the same time, State Congress President Karan Mahra raised the issue of appointments in the Vidhan Sabha during the tenure of the previous BJP government, as well as demanded an inquiry into the appointments during the previous governments of the Congress.
Maximum 150 appointments of Congress tenure canceled
This move of the main opposition party has now proved decisive. The BJP government of the state got an inquiry conducted into the irregularities in the appointments in the assembly. On the basis of the investigation report, in the year 2016, a total of 228 appointments including 150 appointments were canceled during the tenure of the then Harish Rawat government of Congress. The maximum number of canceled appointments has been during the Congress government. However, after the issue of irregularities in the appointments in the assembly got politically charged, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat had termed it as an attempt to distract the attention from the recruitment scam of the commission. The then Speaker of the Assembly and senior Congress leader Govind Singh Kunjwal did not delay in apologizing for giving appointment to the son and daughter-in-law in the assembly.
Organization is unable to take credit for success in creating pressure
Now after the cancellation of the appointments of the tenure of the then Congress government, there is a contradiction within the Congress. In fact, the main opposition party had little hope that the Dhami government of the state would take such rapid steps in this matter. After the cancellation of the appointments, the pressure on the Congress is also visible. State Congress President Karan Mahra called it contrary to justice when the appointments were cancelled. Despite the pressure created to cancel the irregular appointments, the result has been favorable, the Congress is unable to describe it as its achievement. This condition of the party is believed to be the result of internal conflict.
