Due to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami not being able to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP National General Secretary Organization BL Santosh, it is being understood that the cabinet expansion and reshuffle will take place only after a week. Before this, the name of the new state president of BJP is likely to be finalized. Discussions about the expansion and reshuffle of the Dhami cabinet had started after the resignation of Cabinet Minister Prem Chand Aggarwal. The reason for this was that now five places have become vacant in the cabinet. Apart from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, only six ministers are in his team. Due to this, practical difficulties are likely to arise in the work.
CM Dhami handling 35 departments
After the death of Cabinet Minister Chandan Ram Das in April 2023, the responsibility of his departments is with the Chief Minister himself. Now with the resignation of Agarwal, his departments are also under the Chief Minister. Currently, the Chief Minister is handling a total of 35 departments. Meanwhile, when Chief Minister Dhami also reached Delhi on Tuesday, the discussions of expansion and reshuffle gained strength. Although the Chief Minister went to Delhi to attend a marriage function, he also had a program to meet the central leaders.
CM Dhami could not meet BL Santosh
The Chief Minister could not meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the party’s National General Secretary Organization BL Santosh due to their absence in Delhi. It is understood that before the cabinet expansion, the Chief Minister wants to have a final round of discussions with these two leaders. The contenders for the post of minister have also started probing their contacts in Delhi these days. It is being told that more than a dozen BJP MLAs have visited Delhi and some of them are still staying there. The Chief Minister will now return to Dehradun by Thursday. It is likely that when he gets time, he will go to Delhi again to meet the central leaders.
According to BJP sources, now there is a high possibility of cabinet expansion and reshuffle on Navratri itself. Sources say that the name of the state president can be announced anytime after March 26.
