The government’s strictness continues on illegal madrasas running without registration in Uttarakhand. In this episode, under the campaign going on since last month, 180 illegal madrasas have been sealed across the state so far. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has made it clear that no institution will be allowed to operate outside the ambit of the law and this type of action will continue in future as well.
452 madrasas are registered under the Madrasa Education Board in Uttarakhand. Earlier, the government conducted a survey when a large number of madrasas were operating in Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and other areas. It came to light that more than 500 madrasas are being run illegally across the state. They are neither registered with the Madrasa Education Board nor do they meet the standards of madrasas. In view of this, the government has launched a campaign against illegal madrasas since last month. Investigation is also being conducted to find out from where the illegal madrasas are being funded. Not only this, efforts are also being made to change the system of registration of madrasas. Meanwhile, as part of the ongoing campaign against illegal madrasas, three illegal madrasas were sealed in Bhagwanpur area of Roorkee in Haridwar district on Saturday. With this, the number of illegal madrasas sealed in the state so far has increased to 180. It was told that a large number of illegal madrasas running in various districts of the state are under investigation.
