There will be high alert in the Nepal border adjoining the state for the next three days. No person will be able to enter Uttarakhand from Nepal across the border without papers, identity and solid reason. Further decision on the alert will be taken after reviewing the situation. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also directed to deploy Quick Response Teams (QRT) of Uttarakhand Police and Sashastra Seema Bal in areas adjoining the border where there are no checkposts and to increase patrolling by forest department teams in forest areas and stop the entry of unwanted elements. Nepal shares a nearly 275 km long border with Uttarakhand. The central government has asked to tighten security in the border states in view of the ongoing developments in Nepal. In this episode, on Tuesday night, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a meeting regarding the security of the border in the border districts of Champawat, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar in view of the political situation in Nepal. He directed to conduct intensive checking campaign on the border. He said that strict vigil should be kept on the activities of any kind of anti-social and mischievous elements. Internet media should be continuously monitored. Strict action should be taken on any kind of rumor, misleading information and provocative content.
He asked the district administration to work in coordination with the central security agencies, Sashastra Seema Bal and police engaged in the security of the borders. Along with increasing patrolling in the borders, the Chief Minister also asked to take the cooperation of villagers and local village committees. He said that checkposts should be activated on all the routes and hanging bridges adjoining Nepal. Where there are no routes, the police, Sashastra Seema Bal and security personnel of the Forest Department should patrol continuously. He also instructed all the District Magistrates to keep a close watch on the situation.
Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, Director General of Police Deepam Seth, Additional Director General of Police AP Anshuman, Additional Secretary Chief Minister Banshidhar Tiwari, Divisional Commissioner of Kumaon, IG Kumaon and District Magistrate were present online in the meeting.
