Special arrangements will be made at winter worship sites; after the three Dhams, Badrinath’s doors will now be closed.

admin October 24, 2025

State Tourism, Religious Affairs, and Culture Minister Satpal Maharaj stated that following the closure of the doors of Gangotri, Yamunotri, and Kedarnath, Badrinath’s doors will also close on November 25th. Following this, the government has made special arrangements for devotees to worship and visit the traditional winter worship sites. Minister Maharaj stated that under the Char Dham winter worship sites, Lord Kedarnath will be worshipped at Omkareshwar Temple and Ukhimath, Badrinath at Pandukeshwar (Yogadhyan Badri Temple), Mother Ganga at Gangotri at Mukhba, and Mother Yamunotri at Kharsali. Due to heavy snowfall during winter, the deities of the Char Dhams reside at these divine locations. Therefore, devotees can easily visit these sites and worship during the winter. Maharaj stated that Uttarakhand’s Char Dham Yatra is on its way to prosperity.
Efforts to promote winter pilgrimage
Due to the government’s well-planned efforts, this pilgrimage is being conducted successfully and smoothly. For this, I express my gratitude to the pilgrims, priests, local citizens, voluntary organizations, officials and employees of all departments, and especially Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Due to their tireless efforts, despite various obstacles during the monsoon season, a record number of pilgrims visited Uttarakhand this year for the Chardham Yatra, compared to last year. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inspired all of us to promote winter pilgrimage as well. Therefore, the government has also decided to offer up to 50 percent discount on hotels to promote winter pilgrimage. The Minister said that like last year, this year too, a large number of devotees have earned the sacred benefits by traveling to the Chardham. So far, more than 5 million pilgrims have visited the Chardham Yatra in 2025. Of this number, more than 17 lakh devotees visited Kedarnath, more than 15 lakh at Badrinath, more than 7.5 lakh at Gangotri and more than 6.5 lakh at Yamunotri.
