After the consecration of the idol of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya on January 22, the government is worried about the pilgrims going to Ayodhya for darshan from Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. In this sequence, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed that bus services should be operated from Dehradun, Haldwani and Haridwar to Ayodhya. He gave these instructions in the review meeting of the Transport Department at the Secretariat on Friday. Along with equipping the bus stations with clean and modern amenities, he also asked to strengthen the arrangements for the convenience of passengers in all the new bus stations under construction. From the point of view of public safety, the Chief Minister expressed the need to operate new vehicles in place of old ones in the hilly areas.
Install crash barriers in accident prone areas
In the review meeting, the Chief Minister emphasized on installing crash barriers in accident prone areas in the state and planting trees on roadsides. He said that to prevent accidents, along with paying special attention to the fitness of vehicles, proper arrangements for training and medical treatment should be made for the drivers.
Action should be taken against those tampering with number plates
He directed that it should be ensured that the number plates are clearly visible on the vehicles. Strict action should be taken against those who tamper with number plates. He also stressed on the promotion of important schemes of the government through the buses of the Transport Corporation.
Improvement in financial condition of corporation and department
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the financial condition of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation has improved in the last two years. In the year 2022-23, the corporation earned a profit of Rs 29.06 crore, whereas in the current financial year so far the corporation has earned a profit of Rs 27 crore. Similarly, the revenue of the transport department has also increased. The revenue earnings of the department for the year 2022-23 have increased by 34.52 percent, while in the current financial year there has been an increase of 11.20 percent as compared to the previous year. Due to increase in online facilities in the department, enforcement related work has also intensified. The department is providing 58 services online.
Funds released to Vehicle Testing Center
It was informed in the meeting that funds have been released for the construction of vehicle testing centers in Uttarkashi and Pithoragarh. With this, the construction of ISBT in Almora is about to be completed.
ANPR cameras will be installed at 17 new places
It was informed that for enforcement purposes, ANPR cameras have been installed at 10 places in the state, while they are being installed at 17 new places. Details of works related to interceptor vehicles, bike squad, vehicle location tracking device in vehicles, VLTD, automated driving test track were also kept in the meeting.
It was also informed that in the Global Investors Conference, agreements have been signed on 22 investment proposals of the Transport Department worth Rs 3513 crore. Vice Chairman of Infrastructure Monitoring Committee Vishwas Dabur, Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, Arvind Singh Hyanki, Transport Corporation MD Dr Anand Srivastava and other officials were present in the meeting.
