The government is making serious efforts to stop drug trafficking and destroy the drug system in Uttarakhand. Addiction harms not only a person but also his family and social environment. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said these things in a program. CM Dhami said that the target has been set to make Devbhoomi Uttarakhand drug free by the year 2025, everyone has to work together to make this campaign successful. The war against drugs can be won especially by the awareness of the youth.
Uttarakhand to be drug free by 2025
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also administered the oath to the scouts and guides and citizens of Doon to fight against drugs. On Tuesday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the program organized by Adarsh Industrial Autonomous Cooperative Society under the Drugs Free Devbhoomi Mission-2025 at Gandhi Park.
Anti Narcotics Task Force has been formed
CM Dhami said that while on one hand awareness is being brought against drugs among the general public and especially the youth in the state, on the other hand strict action is being taken against the criminals involved in drug trafficking. So far this year, about 600 cases have been registered under the NDPS Act, in which about seven hundred and fifty accused have been sent behind the bars. A three-tier Anti Narcotics Task Force has been formed in the year 2022 to stop drug trafficking and take effective action on the drug trade.
Rehabilitation centers are operated
Chief Minister Dhami said that de-addiction centers are being made effective in all the districts of the state to connect the drug addicts with the mainstream and for their rehabilitation. At present four Integrated Rehabilitation Centers for Addicts are being operated. A campaign is being run by the state government regarding the ill effects of drug addiction among various sections of the society and especially the youth.

Chief Minister Dhami appreciated the efforts of Tilu Rauteli Award winning organization Adarsh Industrial Autonomy Cooperative for bringing public awareness against drug addiction. President of the organization and program coordinator Asha Kothari expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Dhami and Secretary of the organization Harish Kothari conducted the program.
Preparation for increase in addiction treatment facility
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the scope of addiction treatment facilities will be expanded to free the youth from the grip of drugs. Addiction treatment facilities with more beds will be set up in Almora, Uttarkashi, Pauri and Champawat. A 10-bed facility center is also running in Rishikesh AIIMS in the state.
