
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that according to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of extreme heat this year. He directed all the District Magistrates to mark the places with drinking water shortage and prepare an action plan to deal with it. The Chief Minister was taking a review meeting with all the District Magistrates through VC regarding drinking water supply during summers at the State Secretariat on Friday. He directed to expedite the plan to deliver drinking water through pipeline to every village and city of the state, replace tube wells in minimum time, keep fire hydrants smooth, build afforestation and check dams in the catchment area, revive the sources by coordinating with SARA, prepare a water conservation policy and ensure water supply using solar pumps in remote areas. He said that the message of saving water should be spread through schools, panchayats and social media. To reduce the impact of forest fire incidents in summer, valves should be made in drinking water schemes in the forests so that the fire can be extinguished immediately. Many government officials including Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan were also present in the meeting.
Toll free number should be operational at all costs, intensive checking campaign should be conducted
The CM gave instructions to keep the toll free number of drinking water operational at all costs. He said that the complaints registered in the toll free number should be resolved on time. An intensive checking campaign should also be conducted to prevent misuse of water. He gave instructions to ensure the arrangement of buffer material and workers to mark the leakage of water and repair it immediately. He said that if motor pumps, electrical equipment and pipe spares get damaged, they should be repaired immediately and special attention should also be paid to the purity of water.
Install GPS system on tankers, water rates should be fixed for private tankers
He said that for monitoring and effective arrangement of tankers, GPS enabled system should be arranged on tankers and water rates should also be fixed for private tankers. Small dams and barrages should be built by stopping rainwater. This will prevent rainwater from getting wasted and water can be used properly in the summer season. For this, all DMs will mark the sites in their districts and provide proposals within three weeks.
