In the municipal elections, Congress may first announce the candidates for the post of mayor in the municipal corporations. Among these, the first decision may be taken on Dehradun Municipal Corporation. In-charges appointed in the districts have started submitting their reports to the State Congress Committee from Wednesday. All the in-charges can submit their reports by Thursday. On the other hand, senior party leaders held a meeting and brainstormed on the panel being made for the selection of candidates in the civic elections. Elections are to be held for a total of 100 municipal bodies in the state. These include 11 municipal corporations, 43 municipal councils and 46 nagar panchayats. Congress has started working hard on the selection of candidates for the posts of mayor and chairman as well as ward members in the civic elections.
Information of receiving reports from seven districts
The State Congress Committee had asked the in-charges appointed in all 13 districts to submit the report by Wednesday. There is information of receiving reports from about seven districts by Wednesday evening. All the in-charges will submit their reports by Thursday. The main opposition party is moving cautiously regarding the selection of candidates for the post of mayor in municipal corporations and chairman in the remaining bodies.

A meeting of senior leaders was organized at the residence of Leader of Opposition Yashpal Arya till late Wednesday evening. Many people including former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, State Co-in-charge Surendra Sharma, State President Karan Mahra, former State President Pritam Singh and Ganesh Godiyal, former Cabinet Minister Dr. Harak Singh Rawat and Deputy Leader of Opposition Bhuvan Kapri attended it.
