The tigress brought from Jim Corbett Park in Motichur range of Rajaji Tiger Reserve (RTR) was released by Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami from the enclosure into the forest. During this, Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal, Principal Secretary and other departmental officers were present. At around 6.30 am, the Chief Minister opened the gate of the enclosure to release the tigress. The park administration had already completed all the preparations for this event.
The tigress was brought to the Motichur range from Corbett Park on Monday night. Where he was kept in the enclosure. During this the behavior and health of the tigress was monitored. According to Park Director Dr. Saket Badola, the tigress is absolutely healthy and her behavior is normal. He has been radio-collared so that his movements in the forest can be monitored.
Actually, efforts are being made for the last several years to increase the number of tigers in the south-west part of Rajaji Park. For this, tigers and tigresses are being shifted from Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve to this part of Rajaji Park. Earlier, a tiger was brought here on 24 December 2020 and a tigress on 9 January 2021. There is a plan to bring two more tigers here in the coming days.
