After successfully organizing the National Games on the theme of Green Games, the government is now going to take similar steps for the Chardham Yatra starting from April 30. In view of the Green Chardham Yatra, effective steps will be taken to dispose of single-use plastic, while special emphasis will be laid on cleanliness on the travel routes and halts, along with proper arrangements for toilets.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave instructions in this regard in a review meeting called on Monday regarding the arrangements for the Chardham Yatra. He also stressed on the need for extensive publicity regarding single-use plastic.
Chief Minister Dhami said that the country and the world keep an eye on the Chardham Yatra. Work should be done at every level to make the journey simple, easy and safe. This journey is the lifeline of the state and a big medium of economy. Keeping in mind the challenges faced during the Yatra last year, work should be done on the future action plan. It should be ensured that the travellers do not face any kind of problem. He directed the officials to ensure proper arrangements for roads, drinking water, electricity, health facilities related to the journey as well as traffic management and parking during the journey before the start of Chardham Yatra. The registration system should be further strengthened.
He also asked to make arrangements for health screening tests on the travel routes. Also, directed the Animal Husbandry Department to provide warm water and fodder and health testing facilities to horses and mules operating on the walking routes.
The Chief Minister said that it should be ensured that the devotees do not have to stop unnecessarily on the travel routes. From the point of view of traffic management, if the travellers have to be stopped anywhere, then basic facilities should be provided to them there. The Chief Minister also took a serious stand on the complaints of black marketing of heli tickets during the journey and directed that the Vigilance should monitor it and take strict action against the persons concerned.
