During the scrutiny of nomination papers for Lok Sabha elections, nomination papers of seven candidates for Haridwar Lok Sabha seat have been rejected due to various technical errors. Here the nominations of 14 candidates have been found correct. In the other four Lok Sabha seats of the state, Tehri Garhwal, Garhwal, Almora and Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar, nominations of all the candidates have been found correct. In this way, now 56 candidates are left in the fray. March 30 is the last day for withdrawal of nominations. After this, the picture will be clear regarding the candidates contesting on the election front. The nomination process for the Lok Sabha elections in the state started from March 20. The last date for nomination was March 27. During this period, a total of 63 candidates filed nomination papers for five Lok Sabha seats.
Scrutiny of nomination papers
The nomination papers were scrutinized on Thursday. In the investigation, nominations of Suraj Singh Rawat of Bharatiya Yuva Ekta Party, Sandeep Kumar of Bharatiya Sevak Party, Gautam of Mazdoor Kisan Union Party, Swami Damodarcharya of Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal, independent Prabodh Chand Dabral, Rohit Kashyap and Akil Ahmed from Haridwar Lok Sabha seat were found. Canceled due to technical reasons.

At the same time, the candidate of Uttarakhand Kranti Dal on Almora seat did not provide Form A in the prescribed format. In such a situation, he will contest the elections as an independent candidate. After scrutiny of nomination papers, now 14 candidates are left in the fray for Haridwar Lok Sabha seat, 11 for Tehri Garhwal Lok Sabha seat, 13 for Garhwal Lok Sabha seat, 8 for Almora Lok Sabha seat and 10 for Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar Lok Sabha seat.
Last date for withdrawal of nomination is 30th March
Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande said that March 30 is the last date for withdrawal of nominations. After this, election symbols will be allotted to the candidates.
