The Uttarakhand government has now decided to start the process of giving star rating to yoga centers to ensure their quality and bring transparency.
This system is part of Uttarakhand Yoga Policy-2025. The government believes that this will provide standard services to yoga practitioners and institutions will also have to improve the level of services due to competition. In the order issued by the Department of AYUSH and AYUSH Education, it has been said that all the yoga centers operating in the state will have to compulsorily register free of cost on the Apunni Sarkar portal. Only registered institutions will get financial benefits and other facilities prescribed in Yoga Policy-2025.
Rating will be based on services and facilities
According to the government, the star rating given to yoga centers will be based on standards such as their services, infrastructure, quality of instructors, utility of the course and convenience of practitioners. The better the centers perform, the higher the rating they will get. This will help practitioners to choose the right institute.
Steps towards making the state an ‘Ayush Pradesh’
Secretary Dipendra Kumar Chaudhary, while issuing the order, said that the goal of Yoga Policy-2025 is to establish Uttarakhand as an Ayush state. Under this, along with promoting yoga education, training and research, financial support and incentives will also be given to yoga centers. He said that star rating will increase positive competition among yoga institutes and the quality will automatically improve.
Benefits related to registration
It has also been clarified in the order that the benefits from the government will be available to yoga centers only after registration. These include assistance for training, financial support for running yoga centers and participation in various promotional programs.
Practitioners will also get direct benefit
The government believes that yoga practitioners will also get direct benefit from the star rating system. It will be easy for them to understand how better the facilities and services of which yoga center are. This will enable yoga education to be taken forward in a more transparent and reliable manner.
