In Uttarakhand, the civil forests of Duggada and Jaiharikhal of Lansdowne Kotdwar continued to burn on Wednesday. Till late evening, the forest department team kept working hard to control the fire spreading in these areas. The fire in the civil forests of Jaiharikhal has now reached the forests of the cantonment area in Lansdowne. As soon as the information was received, the army personnel also took charge to extinguish the fire. The fire has been controlled to a large extent, but due to strong wind and extreme heat, forest burning continues in other areas. BD Joshi, area officer of Jaiharikhal range of Land Conservation Forest Division, Lansdowne, said that the fire in the civil area is spreading all around due to the scorching heat and strong wind.
The fire was brought under control after several hours of effort.
Jadala forest of Farsula beat also started burning at 3 am on Wednesday. On receiving the information, 12 people from his team immediately reached the spot and after several hours of hard work, the fire was brought under control at 11 am. The reserved area of Farsula Beat of Lansdowne Forest Division has also come under the grip of fire. Forest personnel of Lansdowne Range also brought this fire under control. 22 personnel from both the ranges were deployed to extinguish the fire.
On the other hand, the fire in Jadla and surrounding civil forest of Jaiharikhal spread to Lansdowne Cantonment area with strong winds. The entire area was engulfed in massive fire. At 12 noon, army personnel also started extinguishing the fire. After several hours of hard work, he extinguished the forest fire in the cantonment area in front of the record office.
More than one hectare forest area affected by fire
The fire that broke out in the Tip in Top forest area was extinguished by the forest workers of the cantonment. Forest Inspector of the cantonment Birbal Singh said that the fire has reached the cantonment area through the civil area of Jadla village. Due to the fire, there was a dense fog in the military area. Traffic in this area was also disrupted due to fog. According to Cantonment Department sources, more than 1 hectare forest area has been affected by the fire.
