Now a round of investigations has started in the fraud committed in the name of salaries of Municipal Corporation sanitation workers. Along with physical verification, now Administrator District Magistrate Sonika has asked for the details of every sanitation worker working for the last five years. Meanwhile, it has also come to light that the list of employees was changed even before the Municipal Corporation Board was dissolved. Now the Chairman of the Sanitation Committee, Treasurer, Councilor, Supervisor and Municipal Corporation officials have also come under the ambit of investigation.
Fraud regarding salaries in 200 sanitation committees
A lot of fraud was done regarding salaries in the 200 sanitation committees formed in all the 100 wards of the Municipal Corporation. The number of environment friends working in each ward was shown to be eight to 12, while half the employees on the ground were found missing. Also, many employees were found whose names were not in the records. Till now the Municipal Corporation team has done physical verification in 85 wards. A compiled report will be prepared after investigation of the remaining 15 wards. This will reveal the misuse of government funds by committing fraud. Many important information is also coming to light during the investigation. According to Municipal Corporation sources, before the dissolution of the board, the names of the employees working in the sanitation committees were changed. It is believed that first the salaries were taken in the names of their favourites, then even before the board was dissolved, their names were replaced with the names of other persons. Now there is doubt regarding the number of sanitation workers.
While releasing salaries, it was claimed that employees were deployed on the basis of full capacity, whereas only half the employees were found in the cleaning work. The responsibility of monitoring this work was of the supervisors and the sanitation inspectors had to keep an eye on them. At the same time, the councilors had the responsibility of running the cleanliness committee in their ward.
There is still doubt regarding the release of salary
Along with verification of the sanitation workers, their list is being matched by the Municipal Corporation. There are still 15 wards left, the decision regarding the salaries of the employees will be taken only after the investigation is completed in all the wards.
