In the much talked about sting case that created a stir in the politics of Uttarakhand in the year 2016, CBI has given notice to former Chief Minister Harish Rawat and former Cabinet Minister Harak Singh Rawat to give voice samples. On Friday, CBI served notice to Harish at Himalayan Hospital, Jolly Grant, while Harak Singh was served notice at his Defense Colony residence. Both the leaders have been called to Delhi to give their samples on November 7. If sources are to be believed, CBI may soon give notice to Dwarahat MLA Madan Singh Bisht and Khanpur MLA Umesh Sharma in this matter. In 2016, after the rebellion in the then Congress government, an alleged video of the then Chief Minister Harish Rawat had surfaced, in which Rawat was shown bargaining with the MLAs to save the government.
CBI called both the leaders to Delhi on November 7.
Meanwhile, another video had surfaced, in which the presence of the then Congress MLA Madan Singh Bisht was claimed during the negotiations. The names of current Khanpur MLA Umesh Sharma and then cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat were revealed to be behind both the stings. Nainital High Court had ordered a CBI investigation in this matter. CBI had sought permission from the court to match the voices in the video. The court had asked all the leaders to file their reply by July 4, but except Umesh Sharma, other leaders asked for time. On July 15, Harish Rawat, Harak Singh Rawat and Madan Bisht had filed their reply in the court.
Notice was served to Harish at the hospital and Harak at his home.
CBI’s friends have come to inquire about my health. After the notice received from the CBI team at Jolly Grant Hospital, former Chief Minister Harish Rawat took a dig at the internet media that CBI’s friends have come to inquire about his health. Rawat wrote that ‘I was very surprised to see the notice. People are coming to the hospital to inquire about my health, then the CBI must have felt that I pose a greater threat to the integrity, unity, security and democracy of the country, hence they served me a notice in the hospital itself.’ Let us tell you, Harish Rawat. He was injured in a car accident in Sitarganj the day before. He was undergoing treatment at Jolly Grant Hospital. However, he was discharged from the hospital late Friday evening.
