Uttarakhand state construction agitators and their dependents will soon get the benefit of 10 percent horizontal reservation in state services. The select committee of the Assembly formed regarding the agitating reservation has submitted its report to the Speaker of the Assembly. Now an assembly session can be called soon to pass the bill related to this. In the monsoon session of the Assembly held in September, a bill related to 10 percent horizontal reservation for state agitators was introduced by the government. MLAs from both the ruling party and the opposition had called it incomplete. In view of amendments in the bill, it was handed over to the Select Committee of the Assembly. Then it was decided that the Select Committee would brainstorm deeply on all the aspects and submit its report to the Speaker of the Assembly. After this, an assembly session will be called to pass the bill.
The report was ready after testing it on legal criteria.
The Select Committee prepared its report after thoroughly brainstorming with the agitators on all the issues related to reservation and examining the suggestions related to it on the legal basis. Select Committee Chairman and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Premchand Aggarwal submitted this report to Assembly Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan on November 9, on the State Foundation Day. Now all eyes are on when the government calls a session to pass this bill.
Government serious about horizontal reservation
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Premchand Aggarwal said that the Select Committee has completed its work. Now the first issue is to call the assembly session. He said that the government is serious about giving horizontal reservation to the agitators. Anyway, the monsoon session has not been adjourned yet. A session will be called soon, in which the government will pass this bill. Probably a bill related to Uniform Civil Code can also be brought in this session.
