The Jamrani Dam multi-purpose project will soon take shape on the ground. In the meeting of the Screening Committee of the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti in Delhi on Tuesday, approval was given to include this project of Uttarakhand in the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY).
The proposal will be sent to the Ministry of Finance:
Secretary Irrigation HC Semwal, who attended the meeting on behalf of the state, confirmed this. The allocation of funds for this project costing Rs 2584.10 crore will now be sent to the Ministry of Finance by the Ministry of Jal Shakti. On the other hand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for the approval of this project.
In the meeting of the Investment Clearance Committee of the Ministry of Jalshakti, held on June 10, approval was given to invest in the Jamrani Dam project in the ratio of 90:10 in PMKSY. In the meeting of the Screening Committee of the Ministry of Jalshakti held on Tuesday, there was a discussion regarding this project and approval was given to include it in PMKSY.
The blueprint of this project was drawn in the year 1975 on the Gaula river in the Kumaon region. Till 1981, works of barrage and canals were done there, but the dam could not be built. After the formation of Uttarakhand, efforts were made again for this and the government knocked at the center. After the completion of other formalities including environmental clearance, now the way has been cleared for its early construction.

Dam height above river level 130.6 m
The lake will be 9000 meters long and 20 meters deep
Additional irrigation facility will be available for 57065 hectares
Haldwani city will get 42 MCM (Million Cubic Meter) water by the year 2055
63 million units of electricity will be produced every year
06 villages (Bhimtal Block-Nainital) will be affected by the project
