admin October 20, 2026

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the newly constructed Circuit House in Champawat on Sunday with a formal Puja in the presence of Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta. The CM inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 16 development projects in the district, costing about Rs 96 crore. He also interacted with various organisations, public representatives and local citizens, listening to their problems and suggestions.

He said that these projects will expand infrastructure in the district and provide better public amenities to local residents.

Dhami said that the State government is committed to developing Champawat into a model district. To this end, development work is being carried out in a planned manner, keeping in mind the needs and challenges of the next 25 to 50 years. He said that the real objective of development is to bring positive change in the lives of ordinary citizens and provide them with better facilities.

Road, transportation, parking, drinking water, health, education and other infrastructure facilities are being consistently strengthened in Champawat. Various roads, including the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra route, are being made accessible. Work is also underway on important projects such as bypasses, multi-storey parking lots and shopping complexes in the district. The ISBT under construction in Tanakpur will expand transportation facilities. The CM added that a drainage plan costing approximately Rs 66 crore has been prepared to permanently address the waterlogging problem. Special attention is also being paid to undergrounding power lines and expanding communication facilities in remote areas.

The State government is promoting tourism, employment and livelihood opportunities in the district, as well as implementing development plans tailored to local needs. On the occasion, the CM also met with public representatives, women, Anganwadi and Asha workers, PRD jawans, ministerial cadre and roadways employees, animal herders, statehood activists, ex-servicemen and representatives of cooperatives and listened to their problems and suggestions. He said that solving public problems is among the top priorities of the State government. The government’s effort is to ensure that the benefits of development schemes reach the last person in society.

Later, while attendingd the swearing-in ceremony of the district bar association, the CM said that lawyers are an important pillar of the justice system. They play a vital role in providing justice to ordinary citizens and protecting their constitutional rights. The State government is committed to providing simple, accessible and timely justice to the public. On this occasion, the CM announced the construction of community halls for community use in the district’s judicial councils. He also announced the construction of chambers for advocates, vehicle parking, and the establishment of a modern e-library at the Champawat district bar association. The CM announced that each Gram Sabha in the Champawat development block would receive a sum of Rs 10 lakh for local development work. With this funding, Gram Sabhas will be able to undertake public welfare projects including library construction, roads, livelihood promotion and Anganwadi center upgrades, among other initiatives, tailored to their needs.
