STF had informed Director General of Police Ashok Kumar in this regard. Orders were issued from the government level to investigate the recruitment scam and vigilance was entrusted with it. Vigilance investigation is on pace and its scope is also increasing. In the year 2015, 339 constables were recruited in Uttarakhand, out of which 120 are posted in Kumaon. In which 46 are posted in Udham Singh Nagar and 38 in Nainital district. Similarly, 15 constables are serving in Pithoragarh and seven each in Almora, Champawat and Bageshwar.
Investigation has been started by taking the records of all the inspectors from the headquarters. According to vigilance sources, the toppers in the constable recruitment are on the radar because they do not know about the functioning of the police. In this case only the toppers will be scrutinized first. The scope of investigation is expected to increase in disproportionate assets: Some more inspectors of the police department may come under vigilance investigation in the case of disproportionate assets.
Inspector Kavindra Sharma posted in Udham Singh Nagar district is under investigation in the State Level Vigilance Committee meeting. There is an allegation against him of amassing disproportionate assets. Police and Home Department have received such complaints. If facts are found in the investigation, the cases can be brought before the State Level Vigilance Committee.
Sword of dismissal on suspended 20 inspectors:
The sword of dismissal hangs over the suspended 20 constables. Solid evidence is available against the inspectors at the police headquarters. Vigilance will interrogate them. Before that they can be fired. According to vigilance sources, sections can be increased on the inspectors who get jobs through fake documents. Physical verification of documents is underway. The constables of the year 2015 batch are on the radar of Vigilance.
After the FIR in October 2022, the investigation of the case is going on. Two days ago, on the basis of Vigilance’s report, Additional Director General of Police V Murugesan suspended 20 constables. The suspended inspectors have been attached to the police line, but their difficulties do not seem to be reducing. There is concrete evidence against them at the headquarters level.
According to police sources, the constables can be sacked. Here, those who became inspectors through fake mark sheets are also coming forward in the vigilance investigation. No one wants to rush the vigilance investigation. Officials say that as the facts are coming out, the constables are being identified.
