A case of fraud has come to light in the branch of Punjab National Bank in Raiwala, Dehradun. People have informed about this scam and its figure has reached crores. The figure of embezzled money in Raiwala branch of Punjab National Bank is increasing. So far 16 customers have filed complaints. Due to which the figure has crossed Rs 1 crore. On Friday too, the customers created a ruckus in the bank and surrounded the manager and warned of lockout in the bank if the money was not returned soon. During this time the villagers also demonstrated in front of the bank. At the same time, the angry villagers once again met the inspector in-charge of Raiwala police station.
Many questions are arising
The MetLife agent whose role in the embezzlement is coming to light is said to be absconding. The police team is busy searching for him. The police team has also interrogated the agent’s relatives. The shocking thing is that money was transferred from one customer’s account to another customer’s account without permission. The role of bank employees in misappropriation of funds is also under question. Regional officer of the bank, Viraj Dogra says that senior officers are investigating the matter.
MetLife agent is absconding
Cheated by fake bond letter: Investigation has revealed that the agent has defrauded customers worth lakhs by giving fake bonds of MetLife policy. The bonds given by the agent to the customers have been prepared in some personal computer, but they have the round stamp of PNB on them. Due to which the customers did not know that it was fake. At the same time, the money of most of the customers has been transferred to the Union Bank and HDFC Bank accounts of a woman resident of Haridwar. At the same time, officials of MetLife Company were also called to the bank on Friday, but they did not come.
Crowd gathered to collect bank statement
There is panic among the customers of Punjab National Bank after the embezzlement case came to light. On Friday, there was a rush of customers in the branch to get statements and update passbooks. After some time, both the passbook updating machines stopped working. Customers alleged that the machines had been switched off to hide embezzlement. On Friday, a large number of customers withdrew their deposits from the bank. Whereas many customers have given application for closing the account.
