Municipal Corporation is going to collect house tax from slums after five years. A total of 40 thousand houses from 129 settlements of the city have been included in this. Tax was being collected from about 12 thousand houses till the year 2018, but even then about 28 thousand houses were not within the scope.
Court had given order to remove encroachment
Starting the camp from Brahmapuri, the corporation will collect taxes in all the settlements for a month. Under the Self Tax Assessment Rules 2016, there are about 40 thousand houses in 129 settlements in Doon. Between 2016 and 2018, tax was collected from about 12 thousand houses, but 28 thousand houses were left out. Then in the year 2018, on the orders of the court, due to the campaign to remove encroachments in the entire city, the Municipal Corporation stopped collecting taxes from slums.
Camps will be set up
In such a situation, the corporation suffered a revenue loss of lakhs in the last five years. Now the corporation is ready to collect tax. According to the slum regularization rules, tax will not be collected from the slums built after the year 2016. Municipal Corporation Tax Superintendent Dharmesh Painuli said that on the instructions of the Municipal Commissioner, camps will be organized in slums from Friday to collect building tax. About 50 camps will be organized within a month and a quarter. Along with this, tax can also be deposited in the corporation office.
Taxpayers will provide these documents
In the camp, the taxpayer will have to pay the electricity bill before the year 2016. Along with this, photo of the house and your photo will also have to be given. It is mandatory to provide an affidavit and a copy of Aadhaar card.
