Like Kashi and Ujjain, the government has taken steps towards beautifying the two cities of Uttarakhand, Haridwar and Rishikesh. Haridwar Rishikesh Redevelopment Company Limited has been formed under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary to give concrete shape to the project of redevelopment of these religiously and spiritually important cities situated on the banks of Ganga.
Now Ganga corridor will be prepared for both the cities within two years. The company will also prepare the master plan and implement it for the redevelopment projects. The project of redevelopment of Haridwar and Rishikesh cities was approved in the cabinet meeting held on August 3 under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. In this connection, the government has now formed a company.
Secretary Housing SN Pandey has been made the Chief Executive Officer in the company headed by Additional Chief Secretary Housing and Finance Anand Bardhan. Haridwar-Rishikesh Development Authority, Vice Chairman of Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority and officials of other departments have been included as members. According to Additional Chief Secretary President Anand Bardhan, consultants will be appointed to prepare plans for the redevelopment of both the cities. The agency will be selected for this soon.
These areas will be included in the project
These areas will be included in the redevelopment project: In Haridwar, the area from Devipura to Bhupatwala (Dudhadhari Chowk), one and a half kilometer radius area from Harki Paidi, Kankhal area (Daksh Mandir and Sanyas Road), Bhupatwala to Saptarishi Ashram (Bharat Mata Temple area) will be redeveloped. Has been included in the project. Similarly, the entire area of Tapovan in Rishikesh, core area near the railway station, areas near ISBT and Triveni Ghat have been included. Chaurasi Kuti will also flourish. Chaurasi Kuti under Rajaji Tiger Reserve will also blossom in a new colour.
Located at a distance of only seven kilometers from Rishikesh, this place has been the workplace of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the pioneer of Transcendental Meditation Yoga. The world famous rock band The Beatles composed many tunes at this place. With the aim of making Chaurasi Kuti recognized on the international stage, it has been decided to take consultancy services for its development. This responsibility has been entrusted to HCP Design Planning and Management Private Limited, the company preparing the master plan of Kashi and Ujjain.
Work on measuring height of buildings begins
The government is also working on amending the building bylaws of urban areas regarding the height of buildings. In this context, discussion is going on regarding increasing or reducing the height of buildings according to the conditions of the cities in the building bylaws. According to Additional Chief Secretary Housing Anand Bardhan, its outline will be prepared soon. Besides, special emphasis will also be given on simplifying the process, so that the common man does not face any problem in getting the building plan passed.
