A 100 feet high national flag was hoisted in Dehradun on Tuesday. Under the Smart City project, the tricolor has been installed in Dilaram market. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami dedicated the tricolor to the public. While dedicating the national flag to the public, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that by installing the national flag at a prominent place in the city, the feeling of patriotism and nationalism will spread rapidly among the common people.
It cost Rs 10 lakh
Although the base and pole for the national flag had been installed in Dilaram Bazaar more than one and a half years ago at a cost of about Rs 10 lakh, but due to the National Flag Code, the national flag could not be hoisted there.
What does the National Flag Code say?
The National Flag Code states that there should not be a net of stars around the national flag. Therefore, the national flag was formally established only after the shifting of the lines by the Energy Corporation. Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, Premchand Aggarwal, District Magistrate Sonika, SSP Ajay Singh, Additional Municipal Commissioner Bir Singh Budiyal etc. were present in the program.
