From tomorrow only vehicles with GPS will be able to go to Ghantaghar, if any mistake the permit will be canceled

admin February 15, 2024

In order to bring the poor traffic system of Doon city back on track and for the safety of the general public, passenger vehicles will not be able to operate without GPS in the area around Ghantaghar and Parade Ground from tomorrow i.e. Friday. Divisional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary/RTO Sunil Sharma said that only those passenger vehicles fitted with GPS will operate in this area from Friday. RTA had given exemption till February 15 to vehicle operators to install GPS, which will end today. Vehicles which do not have GPS installed will be able to operate outside the restricted area.

Approval received from state government
Divisional Transport Authority Secretary Sunil Sharma said that the decisions of the RTA meeting held on December 23 under the chairmanship of Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey were approved by the state government on January 11. Orders regarding these decisions were issued by the Transport Department on January 12.

vehicle permit will be canceled
The order has taken many major steps regarding traffic improvement and has included the action of canceling the permit of the vehicle if the passenger vehicle is operated at restricted places, intersections and routes.

Action will be taken if the vehicle is parked in no-parking zone
The permit for a passenger vehicle will be canceled even if the vehicle is parked in a no-parking zone. After the condition of GPS within the perimeter of the clock tower, city bus, private bus, taxi, auto, Vikram, Maxi etc. will operate only if GPS is installed on the vehicle.

Vikram and auto operators are protesting
Vikram and auto operators are protesting against the mandatory use of GPS within the perimeter of the clock tower. In this regard, a meeting of organizations of all transport traders was also held under the chairmanship of RTO Sunil Sharma last week. In which city bus, private bus and Tata Magic operators had accepted the condition of GPS, but Vikram and auto operators are adamant on protesting. Now it remains to be seen how successful the transport department will be in stopping the operation of these vehicles in the restricted area from Friday.

Passengers will remain under surveillance
Now the Transport Department will have complete information regarding how many times a passenger vehicle is plying in Ghantaghar and its surrounding areas in a day. With GPS, the transport department will be able to monitor every vehicle. It will also be ensured whether the vehicle is being operated as per the conditions of the permit or not. For this, a control room is being created through NIC.

Warning will be given from the control room
RTA Secretary said that for the first time, if the rule is violated, the vehicle operator will be warned from the control room. If the rules are violated for the second time, the permit will be confiscated and a hearing will be held in the RTA and if the rules are broken for the third time, action will be taken to cancel the permit.
