Cabinet will fix land rates for rehabilitation of disaster affected people of Joshimath, 1200 families have to shift

There is a problem in rehabilitation of disaster affected people of Joshimath, who are facing the disaster of landslide. After objections raised by the Finance Department regarding land rates, now the Disaster Management Department has sought opinion from Finance itself. After this, a proposal will be placed before the Cabinet regarding fixing land rates for rehabilitation of disaster affected people. About 1200 families of Joshimath are to be rehabilitated. In the first phase, 11 acres of land has been finalized for this in Bamoth near Gauchar.

Landslides intensified from January 4 last year

Landslides intensified from January 4 last year in a large part of Joshimath city, the most important stop for the journey to Badrinath Dham in Chamoli district. It was natural for people to be frightened due to cracks in a large number of houses as well as roads and other land. However, immediate steps were taken by the government and the affected people were accommodated in safe places. Not only this, in view of this disaster in Joshimath, investigation was conducted by nine renowned agencies of the country. After this, the Central Government approved a scheme of 1800 crores for the treatment of the affected area of ​​Joshimath and rehabilitation of the disaster affected. In this sequence, the rehabilitation of the disaster affected is to be done. Meanwhile, the Finance Department raised objections regarding the land rates. According to sources, the Finance Department said that different rates have been fixed for the rehabilitation of the disaster affected at Kedarnath, Badrinath and other places.

Why are not uniform rates fixed for such cases. However, the Disaster Management Department informed the Finance Department that the rates were fixed earlier in view of the immediate circumstances. Also, the Finance Department was requested to give its clear opinion in this regard.

According to sources in the Disaster Management Department in the government, the opinion of the Finance Department is being awaited. After this, a proposal regarding fixing the land rates for the rehabilitation of the Joshimath disaster affected will be prepared and sent to the Cabinet. The Cabinet will take a decision on this. After this, the process of rehabilitation of the affected will be started.
