Mangalore assembly seat is such on which BJP has not been able to open its account since the formation of the state. It has suffered a defeat due to lack of a strong candidate and the social fabric of this seat. However, BJP, encouraged by the historic success in the recent Lok Sabha elections, is now going to make a new strategy for the by-election of Mangalore seat. In the campaign for the by-election, it will not only contact every voter, but will also give information about the welfare schemes of the central and state governments. It will also underline the importance of double engine.
Seat vacant due to the death of BSP MLA
This seat has become vacant due to the death of BSP MLA Sarwat Karim Ansari, who was representing the Mangalore assembly seat. Now BJP has taken its by-election as a challenge. However, if we look at the previous elections, BJP was not successful in balancing the equations of this seat which has 45 percent Muslim, 55 percent Hindu and about 18 percent Scheduled Caste voters among Hindus. The reason is that Congress and BSP have often represented this seat. The mathematics of this seat has been a puzzle for the strategists of BJP.
BJP made preparations at 132 booths
After creating history by winning all the five seats of the state for the third time in a row in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, BJP is in the fray for the by-election of Mangalore seat with high morale. Learning from past experiences, it is going to make a new strategy in this by-election. For this, the party has made preparations for all 132 booths of the assembly constituency. The responsibility of the party officials from provincial to division and booth level is being decided.
BJP will woo Muslim leaders
To woo Muslim voters, the party will field former Union Minister Shahnawaz Hussain on the campaign front here. Not only this, to make inroads among Jat voters, it is going to bring RLD leader and Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary, an ally of the BJP-led NDA alliance at the Center, in the campaign. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, members of his cabinet, BJP’s state in-charge Dushyant Kumar Gautam, state president Mahendra Bhatt and other leaders will also take charge. Like the Lok Sabha elections, in the by-election of the Mangalore assembly seat, the public will also approve the works of the double engine. We will contact every voter in the Mangalore assembly constituency and take the achievements of the central and state governments to every home. With all this, BJP will create history in Mangalore this time. – Aditya Kothari, State General Secretary BJP.
