The effect of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s strict instructions to open the roads obstructed by landslides caused by heavy rains has started showing. In just four days, 307 closed routes have been opened for traffic. However, at present 174 roads are blocked in various districts of the state, which the Chief Minister has directed to open soon. Along with this, the Disaster Management Secretary has directed the concerned departments to provide a detailed status report on September 25, including the action taken regarding opening of roads and the reasons for the roads which have not been opened. The Chief Minister has directed all the District Magistrates to hold a meeting with the concerned departments and make an effective strategy to open the roads which are closed. It has also been clarified that whatever kind of cooperation the concerned departments need to open the roads, the District Magistrate should ensure to provide it. Let us tell you that in recent days, due to a large number of roads being obstructed due to heavy rains, the public was facing difficulties in movement. In view of this, the Chief Minister directed the Disaster Management Secretary to make a comprehensive strategy to open the closed roads. The Chief Minister had also made it clear that no negligence will be tolerated in the matter of opening the roads. It is the result of his strictness that 307 roads were opened for traffic in four days.
According to the information received from the State Disaster Management Authority, the number of closed roads in the state on September 14 was 481, which has now come down to 174. The Chief Minister has also directed that a detailed report along with the reasons for the roads which may take time to open should be sent to the Disaster Management Secretary.
