38th National Games mascot Mouli’s home will not only be improved, but effective steps will also be taken for its protection. Mouli is none other than Uttarakhand’s state bird Monal, which is the pride of the high Himalayan region. Now that Monal in the form of Mouli is the center of discussion in the whole country, a separate action plan will be made for its protection. Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal has given instructions to the departmental officials for this. In the action plan, along with the protection of Bugyals, which are called the home of Monal, there will be emphasis on taking effective steps for the protection of this beautiful bird.
Monal is also known as Himalayan Peacock
The beautiful bird Monal is found at an altitude of 2100 to 4500 meters above sea level. It is also known as Himalayan Peacock. The high Himalayan region of Uttarakhand is a suitable habitat for the Monal (Lophophorus impejanus). It is a part of the Phasianidae family and is included in the rare category. The government has also included it in the state symbols. Now that the National Games are going to be held in the state from January 28, Monal has been made its mascot.

Through this, an attempt has been made to draw the country’s attention towards the Himalayas. In this scenario, it is natural to have discussion and excitement about Mauli, i.e. Monal. Along with this, the government has now decided to speed up the efforts for the conservation of Monal.
That is why conservation is needed
Even though Monal has the pride of being the state bird, the dangers are no less for it. Bugyal (velvety green grasslands) in the high Himalayan region are its main habitats, which are struggling with the onslaught of nature. Not only this, in case of heavy snowfall, the Monal comes to lower regions and hunters keep a keen eye on it. Although the subject of conservation of Monal is included in various schemes of the Forest Department, but now a separate action plan is being made so that concrete steps can be taken for its conservation and protection.
