
An alert has been issued in view of the security of forests and wildlife in Uttarakhand. Also, the leaves of field workers of the forest department have been cancelled. Instructions have been given for intensive monitoring in sensitive places and areas adjoining interstate and international borders. This step has been taken in view of the festival of Holi. Principal Forest Conservator (Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden Ranjan Kumar Mishra has issued guidelines to all forest conservators, Director and Deputy Director of Wildlife Protected Area and all DFOs. He has said that in view of the festival of Holi, it is necessary to take extra precautions for the protection of forests and wildlife. In this regard, all officers and employees have been asked to be instructed. According to Mishra, from the point of view of the security of forests and wildlife, all field officers and employees will remain in their respective areas. Leave will be allowed to them in special circumstances. Officers have been instructed to keep the intelligence system on alert mode in the area under their control, check every vehicle at the barriers and check posts of the forest department, keep special vigil at railway and bus stations, weekly markets and sensitive areas, take the help of sniffer dogs in this, keep special vigil on persons with suspicious activities. He has asked to do short and long distance patrolling and patrolling by vehicles in sensitive areas as well as areas adjoining interstate and international borders. He has also instructed that if needed, the cooperation of police, SSB, ITBP and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau should also be taken. It has also been asked to maintain coordination with the forest divisions located in the border areas.
