After the Dharali disaster in disaster-prone Uttarakhand, the government has adopted a strict stand on disaster management and security in the state. In this episode, any kind of construction work has been banned on the banks of natural water sources and rivers and streams. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave instructions to the officials in a high-level meeting held at his residence on Monday. He also asked to immediately mark the sensitive sites in the mountainous region in terms of landslides, avalanches and other natural disasters, so that caution can be taken before the possible danger.
No permission for new construction work
Chief Minister Dhami gave clear instructions that no new settlement or new construction work will be allowed at the marked sensitive sites. He said that any kind of government or private construction work will be banned on the banks of natural water sources, rivers and streams. For this, he instructed the senior officials to issue clear guidelines to all the District Magistrates. The Chief Minister categorically said that strict disciplinary action will be taken against the officers who violate the guidelines. He told the officials that along with giving priority to preventive measures in view of disaster prevention, concrete and effective steps should be taken keeping in mind the public interest in sensitive areas. Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu, R Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Shailesh Bagoli, ADG AP Anshuman, Special Secretary Dr. Parag Madhukar Dhakate, Additional Secretary Banshidhar Tiwari were present in the meeting.
