In the state, only two months will be available for digging roads for works like electricity, water, sewer line, telecom cable etc. The Public Works Department is making a policy for the first time for digging roads, the draft of which has been prepared. After the construction of a new road in the state, some other department digs it for its work. Then the traffic on that road remains affected for a long time. People remain troubled. From Sahastradhara Road in the capital Dehradun to all the cities, such cases are coming to the fore, when new roads are dug up by some other department. This causes loss to the Public Works Department. There is no such policy in the state yet, whereas in many states including UP, a time period is fixed for this. Therefore, now in Uttarakhand also the Public Works Department is bringing such a policy, under which only two months in a year will be fixed for digging the road. Except for special circumstances, all other departments will be allowed to dig the road only in this time period.
After the policy comes, an SOP for digging the road will be prepared. Under this, there will be a time limit for digging the road and completing the work. Action will also be taken against the departments which cut and damage the road against the rules. Secretary Public Works Department Dr. Pankaj Pandey said that the draft of this policy has been prepared. It will be brought to the cabinet soon. All construction related departments will come under the purview of the policy.
Will also be connected to the central government’s app
After the new policy comes, the Public Works Department will also use an app of the central government for information related to digging of roads in the state. The department will keep getting all the information through this app. The department will be able to take action on it accordingly.
