Relatives and local people created a ruckus over the case of death under suspicious circumstances of a 15-year-old girl working in a businessman’s flat in the city’s Paash Race Course area. The girl was doing cleaning work in the flat for about four months. His body was found hanging in the toilet on Thursday morning. The businessman, his teacher wife and another acquaintance removed the body from the noose and took it to Coronation Hospital, where doctors declared the girl dead. On the other hand, as soon as the girl’s relatives and local people came to know about the incident, they became angry and created a ruckus at the spot and blocked the road, accusing the businessman of rape and murder. The angry mob also vandalized the businessman’s flat.
The police barely controlled the situation. On the complaint of the girl’s father, Nehru Colony police station registered a case against the businessman, his wife and another under POCSO Act including murder, assault, molestation and took all three into custody. Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh said that in the post-mortem report, there were no injury marks on the girl’s body, nor did the doctors mention sexual assault. The post mortem report states the cause of death to be hanging. The reasons for the incident are being investigated. There is a flat of Abhishek Luthra, a businessman who buys and sells old cars, near the MLA Hostel located at the Race Course. About four months ago, he had hired a 15-year-old girl, resident of a colony in Dharampur area, to do cleaning work in the flat.
Abhishek’s wife is a teacher in a reputed private school in the city. She went to school in the morning as usual, while Abhishek Luthra, his driver and two-three other girls were present at the flat. According to the police, the work of shifting of goods from Abhishek’s flat was going on on Thursday. Meanwhile, the girl came to work in the morning and after some time her body was found hanging in the toilet under suspicious circumstances. After the incident, angry relatives reached the spot and created a ruckus, vandalized the flat and blocked traffic on Race Course Road. On receiving information about the uproar, Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh, City Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar along with the police force reached the spot and tried to pacify the relatives and the angry crowd.
The relatives kept alleging that the businessman raped the girl and later murdered her. In this situation, the police did not delay and immediately registered a case against the businessman, his wife and the driver and took them into custody. After this the angry crowd calmed down. Taking the matter seriously, the police immediately conducted the post-mortem of the girl’s body by a panel of three doctors at Coronation Hospital and also got videography done. The interrogation of the accused continued till late night.
The girl was the eldest among four siblings.
According to the police, the girl’s family is originally from Muzaffarpur, Bihar. A few years ago the family came to Dehradun for work and started living in a colony in Dharampur. The girl’s father and mother work as laborers, while the girl also started cleaning the flat to meet the family expenses. Kishori was the eldest among four siblings. After his death, the younger brothers and sisters are crying badly.

When the police checked the recording of the cameras, it was found that the girl was going towards the toilet with a stool at 9:27 in the morning. About quarter of an hour later, at 10:19, four-five people including businessman Abhishek Luthra and his driver were seen searching for the girl. Meanwhile, he also went towards the toilet and was seen bringing the girl out from inside. In the CCTV recording, they were also seen giving first aid to the girl and when she lost consciousness, she was taken outside. According to the police, the businessman took the girl to Coronation Hospital and she herself informed the police about the incident.
